"No matter how happy or sad I am, it sounds as if I am not bothered. I have tried to change it, but it doesn’t seem to make a great difference. The truth is that I have lots of emotions inside. I cried after the semi-final at Wimbledon because I was proud to reach the final and I knew how much it meant to the country. I cried after the final, too, for different reasons. I felt I had let people down. I think people warmed to that. They could see how much it hurt."

R. Federer def R. Nadal  6-3  6-0

I’ve never seen a tennis player – and I’ve met many athletes and champions from all professions throughout Tommy’s entire career – as a person and a complete athlete, Roger is so friendly, so cordial, so open with people. With zero arrogance. The hair on my arm is almost standing up right now. What I’m saying, in essence, it’s almost unbelievable that this type of person exists. He’s such a pure, class act. In other words, he’s humble. Yet he does not need to be.
